What ages does NCYDC serve?

Core workforce programming serves ages 14 to 24. Career exploration begins in Grade 5 with age-appropriate exposure, mentoring, and life skills. Programming is organized by age, stage, program type, and pathway.

Will younger students participate in programs with adults?

No. Grade 5 and middle-school students take part in dedicated, age-appropriate experiences. High-school and young-adult participants follow separate workforce pathways, each with its own schedule, supervision, and activities.

Is NCYDC launching all of its programs at once?

No. NCYDC is being developed and launched in phases, as funding, facilities, instructors, equipment, insurance, approvals, and partnerships are secured. Each phase is confirmed with families and partners before a cohort begins.

When do programs run?

Programs are being prepared for 2027, with earlier opportunities offered when available. Cohorts are scheduled around school calendars, including during school, after school, evenings, and summer. Schedules are confirmed cohort by cohort.

Is there a cost to participate?

Costs vary by program. Some activities are free when grant funding or community support is available. Credential and testing pathways may carry fees set by the certifying body or training partner. We share actual cost before enrollment.

Will my student earn a certification?

Some pathways include credential prep, such as CNA, phlebotomy, CPR, First Aid, BLS, forklift operation, and OSHA safety fundamentals. Availability depends on cohort, training partner, and eligibility, we confirm specifics per participant.

How do we enroll?

Join the interest list. A team member follows up on fit and timing, and when a matching cohort opens we share the schedule, requirements, and cost. Enrollment paperwork is completed with our staff.

Does joining the interest list guarantee a spot?

No. It does not guarantee enrollment, placement, certification, employment, or funding. It tells us who to contact when a suitable cohort opens.

Can a school or district partner with NCYDC?

Yes, through student referrals, hosting cohorts, providing space, coordinating work-based learning, and organizing career exposure events. See the partnerships page for details.

Can an employer or union get involved?

Yes. Employers host job shadows and internships, hire from cohorts, provide speakers and mock interviews, and contribute equipment. Unions and training providers support pre-apprenticeship alignment and pathway mapping.

How can we sponsor or give in-kind support?

Support goes toward instruction, student materials and PPE, credential and testing costs, transportation, meals, equipment, and capacity building. NCYDC is a Missouri nonprofit, and we're glad to discuss any documentation your organization needs.

How does NCYDC track outcomes?

We track enrollment, attendance and retention, credential completion where applicable, work-based learning participation, transitions into employment or education, and skill growth measured before and after the program.

NCYDC serves North St. Louis County, Missouri, with Hazelwood as our primary base. Cohorts are often delivered at partner sites such as schools, training facilities, and community organizations.
